The Global Marginality, Inclusivity, and Legal Mechanisms project area aims to gauge and increase the degree of inclusivity experienced by marginalized groups across the globe and within the United States. It aims to do so through cutting-edge research and tools for narrative production, awareness raising, community engagement, and policy interventions. Projects span global marginality and inclusivity, including the robust, comprehensive, and yearly-updated Inclusiveness Index; and the Global Human Rights Agenda, which advances the utility of legal instruments and rights-based frameworks as meaningful organizing tools for marginalized communities and social movements to articulate claims of socio-political rights and belonging.

Global Marginality and Inclusivity

The Global Marginality and Inclusivity project area gauges the degree of inclusivity experienced by marginalized groups across the globe and within the United States. Our  “Inclusiveness Index” ranks states and countries in their degree of institutional inclusion and protections extended to vulnerable groups across salient social cleavages, such as gender, race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, and (dis)ability.

Human Rights Agenda

The Human Rights Agenda project area aims to advance the utility of the rights-based framework as a meaningful organizing tool for marginalized communities and social movements to articulate claims of socio-political rights and belonging. It entails collaboration with the US Human Rights Network (USHRN) and several other human rights organizations to contribute to shadow reporting compiled by the USHRN.
