Beth Piatote


Beth Piatote's current book project, building on her recent monograph Domestic Subjects: Gender, Citizenship and Law in Native American Literature (Yale 2013), explores the ways in which Native American writers have drawn upon sensory representations such as sound and synesthesia to produce a distinct legal imaginary that contests settler-colonial incursion and affirms indigenous politics and aesthetics.
