A talk by Yogendra Yadav, Indian politician, activist and well known election analyst.

Speaker Bio
Yogendra Yadav is an Indian politician, psephologist and academic. He has previously worked as a professor of Political science at Punjab University, Chandigarh and a Senior Fellow at the Centre for the Study of Developing Societies (CSDS), Delhi. He is a founding member of Swaraj Abhiyan and Jai Kisan Andolan and a prominent voice in mobilising the farmer's movement in India.

Prof. Yadav's areas of interests include democratic theory, election studies, survey research, political theory, modern Indian political thought and Indian socialism and has published extensively in academic journals and popular media on these themes. He is co-author of State of Democracy in South Asia (Oxford University Press, 2008) and Crafting State Nations: India and other Multinational Democracies (Johns Hopkins University Press, 2011).

Prof. Yadav was awarded the Malcolm Adiseshiah Award for Distinguished Contributions to Development Studies in 2008. In 2009 the International Political Science Association honored him with the first Global South Award “in recognition of outstanding work on the politics of the developing world.”
