Melissa Jones of BARHII introduces panel discussion on Economic Equity in the Bay Area The Regional Equity Atlas - Sarah Treuhaft, PolicyLink

A shared understanding about the importance of equity to the future of the Bay Area. Powerful equity metrics. Policies that address racialized inequality. These are key ingredients needed to advance the equity agenda in the Bay Area—and a new tool, the Bay Area Equity Atlas, is helping to bring these elements to communities across the region. Produced by a partnership between the San Francisco Foundation, PolicyLink, and the USC Program for Environmental and Regional Equity (PERE), the Bay Area Equity Atlas is a comprehensive data support system to track the state of equity across the region and equip community leaders with data to inform solutions for inclusive prosperity. Take a tour of the Atlas and learn how you can use it in your equity work.

Racial Segregation and Housing in the Bay Area - Stephen Menendian, Haas Institute Berkeley

Segregation is one of our nation’s most enduring and intractable problems. In far too many cases, racial segregation is as severe or worse today than a generation ago. Given the seriousness of the problem of racial segregation as a cause of racial inequality and the complexities in understanding the nature of this problem, the Haas Institute has launched a series of briefs that attempt to illuminate these patterns and demystify the reality of segregation in the San Francisco Bay Area. While indeed one of the most diverse regions in the country, Haas Institute's Racial Segregation maps reveal that the San Francisco Bay Area features a tremendous amount of racial segregation with historical roots going back generations.
