Annie Sloan is a legal research assistant for Professor john a. powell and the Haas Institute for a Fair and Inclusive Society. She is currently a J.D. candidate at U.C. Berkeley School of Law. Annie is passionate about racial justice particularly as it pertains to the criminalization of individuals and communities, policing, incarceration, and the prison industrial complex. Through Berkeley's Post-Conviction Advocacy Project, she works with UnCommon Law, an Oakland organization that provides legal representation to people incarcerated in California. She is also an Articles Editor for the Berkeley Journal of African-American Law & Policy. Prior to law school she worked as a legal assistant at GLBTQ Legal Advocates & Defenders. Annie received her B.A. in American Studies and Education from Tufts University.
