On April 12, 2019, Professor powell gave two keynote speeches at the 2019 Annual Summit for the North Central Accountable Community of Health in Moses Lake, Washington. The goals of the Summit were to advance whole person health, to create a shared understanding of health equity, and to increase awareness around health equity. In the morning, Professor powell presented a keynote about Othering and Belonging and health. He discussed systemic oppression and explained how “othering” contributes to documented health disparities. After spending the morning exploring equity and belonging, his afternoon keynote presented Targeted Universalism as a framework for solutions. Finally, later in the afternoon, he also participated in a panel called “Continuing the Conversation: Addressing the Road Blocks to Whole Person Health in North Central Washington.”
