Joel Sati is a first-year Ph.D student in the Jurisprudence and Social Policy program at UC Berkeley. Sati's research is in legal philosophy and epistemic justice, with a focus on law and normative citizenship as it relates to marginalized peoples. His work deals with the political situation of illegalized immigrants around the world. In addition to academic work, Sati, an immigrant from Kenya, has also worked with local and national immigrants rights organizations such as CASA de Maryland, African Communities Together, and the New York Immigration Coalition. Sati received his B.A., summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa, in philosophy from the City College of New York, CUNY.
