Ethan Floyd is a Research Assistant to john a. powell where his work focuses on fair housing, othering and belonging, and structural racialization. He is currently a J.D. candidate at the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law (Boalt Hall) where he was awarded the Boalt Hall Dean’s Fellowship. Ethan's research interests include disparate impact under the Fair Housing Act, environmental racism, and structural racialization. Ethan’s academic work is heavily influenced by his desire to put his legal background to use for exploited people of color around the world. Prior to joining the Haas Institute, Ethan received his Bachelor of Arts from Howard University where he was involved in developing several policy solutions to racial issues. Recently, Ethan was elected to Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Berkeley Journal of African-American Law and Policy.
