Center on Community Philanthropy Releases Compendium on Racial Healing in the South

LITTLE ROCK – The Center on Community Philanthropy at the University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service has released a digital version of its second edition compendium, “Pathways to Racial Healing in the American South: A Community Philanthropy Strategy.”

The publication, which is comprised of a collection of scholarly essays, is now available with the first edition compendium, on the center’s website. Written by distinct cohorts of visiting scholars, each of the center’s compendiums reflects the work and expertise of researchers, practitioners and senior executives from across the country.

Through the center’s Scholars in Residence Program, individuals who have demonstrated exemplary contributions to the field of community philanthropy are invited to spend time in the Little Rock community before composing a thematic essay. The most recent compendium addresses the topic of racial healing.

The digital release of the second edition compendium follows the launch of the printed publication at the Center on Community Philanthropy’s third annual summit on Racial Equity and Healing earlier this year. The event was held as a special commemoration of the 15th anniversary of President Bill Clinton’s "One America in the 21st Century" initiative on race.

As part of the celebration, four former Scholars in Residence returned to the Clinton Center to present the work they contributed to the compendium. Chancellor Joel Anderson of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, Minnijean Brown Trickey of the Little Rock Nine, john a. powell from the University of California at Berkeley, and Dr. David Williams from Harvard University were among the scholars who spoke at the event.
